The Aboriginal Infant Development Workers support Indigenous families with children from birth to three years who are at risk or already have a delay in development.

Aboriginal Infant Development Support Workers


To provide family support for families with Indigenous children through:

  • Fostering and nurturing a safe and healthy family environment between families and community services
  • Empowering families to become active participants in the community
  • Learning, growing and strengthening our families, our team and our community

The Aboriginal Infant Development Program at The Aboriginal Child & Family Support Services is pleased to provide the culturally sensitive/developmental programs for the Indigenous families who reside only in the Vancouver region and have children’s ages 0-3

The Aboriginal Infant Development Program can offer unique programs:
  • To help further develop your baby’s skills and abilities
  • Nobody’s Perfect Parenting
  • Aboriginal Parent Child Mother Goose
  • Circle of Security Parenting Program
  • Ages & Stages Questionnaire
  • Infant Message

The benefits for parent and child:

  • Get to meet other families in the
  • Vancouver community
  • One to one consultation with the AIDP support worker
  • Home visits
  • Informal assessment of child and family needs that are culturally sensitivity and meaningful
  • Provide positive parent-child relationships
  • Cultural knowledge and activities
  • Provide appropriate referrals when necessary or as requested


Vancouver Native Health Society


The Partnership Agencies host an ACFSS staff member who will provide early childhood and support services to a specific service area. Partnership agencies are:

  • Britannia Community Services Center
  • Broadway Youth Resource Center
  • Cedar Cottage Neighborhood House
  • Kiwassa Neighborhood House
  • Mount Pleasant Family Center
  • Ray-Cam Community Services Center
  • South Vancouver Neighborhood House
