VANCOUVER NATIVE HEALTH SOCIETY EAST SIDE DENTAL CLINIC ABOUT US: REGISTERED NON PROFIT SOCIETY without government funding VOLUNTEER DENTISTS AND ASSISTANTS DEDICATED: to improving access to PRIMARY EMERGENCY PAIN RELIEF. PAIN PRIORITY CLINIC: We operate similarily to the Emergency Ward at VGH. However, the one major difference, is you will be processed with an x'ray as soon as possible, as this gives us an opportunity to evaluate and assess your primary need together. TREATMENT: is dependent upon availability of volunteer dentists and the degree of difficulty HOURS: Monday's 9-4 Pm and Friday's 9 -12 noon. BASIC REQUIREMENT: PAIN CANADIAN TRIAGE & ACUITY SCALE (CTAS) is a tool that enables Emergency Department Nurse/coordinators to: Triage patients according to the type and severity of the presenting signs and symptoms and ensures that the sickest patients are seen first when capacity has been exceeded and to ensure that a patient's need for care is reassessed while in the Emerency Department. BRING: Care Card, Status, Immigration Papers if possible please PHONE: 604-254-9900-we will return any calls to answer your queries. FREE SERVICE: Although we are NON-PROFIT, we are not LEGALLY considered FREE, as we collect from Status or Ministry and Immigration and are accepting donations from low income patients who are willing to give a donation. WELFARE: It should be noted that we treat patients on welfare who are turned away from other clinics once their limit runs out, or who cannot afford to be seen elsewhere as they are ask to pay the difference up the College Fee Schedule. DONATIONS: Although donations are NOT manditory, however, they do go a long way to help to provide the high standard of care equipment and materials we use. Recently we have needed to replace a $7000.00 compressor, without which we could not do anything. PATIENT EXPECTIONS: Out of consideration for the emergent needs of others, we would like to request that you keep your expectations to just one tooth area per visit please. Otherwise these services could become easily exploited. MEDICALLY COMPROMISED PATIENTS: may be refused without a full medical history including medications and written or verbal consent from their doctor. CONTINUOUS CARE: We are under no obligation to provide continuous non-emergency care for any one individual, as this is an abuse of these services. IMPACTED WISDOM TEETH OR 3RD MOLAR EXTRACTIONS: Generally these can be evaluated when you come in for an x'ray. We do have some dentists who are more experienced and are willing to managed surgical extractions, so please leave your contact information if we are unable to take care of the extraction on the day you come. OPEN AND DRAIN: Please be informed, we are under no obligation to complete Root Canal Treatment, as we generally do not have the availablity of volunteers to dedicate and hour of time to one single patient on any given day. We would ask that you please consider carefully your own financial commitment required to complete the Root Canal Treatment in a mainstream clinic before agreeing to save the tooth. HYGIENE DAYS Volunteer Hygenists: Wednesday 9-4 pm and Friday's noon to 4 pm-call to book an appointment or drop in to see a dentist first on Monday's or Friday's if it has been more than 12 months since you have seen a dentist.
