Positive Women Positive Spaces A one-time grant from GlaxoSmithKline-Shire Canada HIV/AIDS Community Innovation Program 2007 was the initial funding for our community-based pilot project. Positive Women, Positive Spaces (PWPS) aims to address the links between structural violence, health inequities, and HIV/AIDS risk for Aboriginal women living in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside by creating a women’s only space as part of the Positive Outlook Program at Vancouver Native Health Society.
PWPS is a weekly women’s only space for HIV care, support, education and treatment for vulnerable women (especially those that are Aboriginal) – serving over 50 women each week, with a nutritious meal, support, medical treatment, and an environment free of intimidation, violence, and coercion.
