Resumes/applications are being accepted for this full time supervisory position overseeing the work of a dynamic team of specialists working with people living with HIV/AIDS in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. This is a challenging position, and for the right person the rewards are many and satisfying.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Program Co-ordinator manages all activities and services provided through the Positive Outlook Program, currently responsible for both outreach and drop-in services. These services are designed to best meet the needs of Aboriginal persons with HIV/AIDS, although non-Aboriginal persons are also served. Current care includes: nursing and related activities, including hospital visits and hospital release co-ordination; medication dispensing; nutrition assistance; housing location assistance, social assistance and one-to-one counseling.

The Program Co-ordinator supervises and evaluates staff, provides leadership and functions as a role model and coach to assist staff with professional development and achievement of program goals. She/he takes a long-range view of operations and client service delivery and follows through on issues impacting the overall quality of client care. Without limiting any of the foregoing, the Program Co-ordinator also represents the program internally in interactions with other elements of the organization, and also represents the program and organization in dealing with other agencies established to work with persons who have HIV/AIDS. She/he will foster a strength based approach with the program.

Qualifications: Education, Training and Experience: Completion of a degree program from a post-secondary institution in nursing, social work or a related discipline is required. Three to five years’ experience working with vulnerable/high needs populations is required. Demonstrated experience in case management, teaching/training, clinical support and consultation skill is required. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing is required. Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment and foster effective working relationships is required. Current CPR is required.
